I am a Jew
I am a Jew. I live in Jerusalem, Israel. I am a soldier fighting the battle to LIVE. I do not use guns or bombs or rockets. I don't kill. Yet, I fight a difficult battle. I fight this war with persistence. I get my strength from G-d and my fellow soldiers that fight this war with me. Every Jew in Israel fights this war.
This past Saturday night I was performing my usual havdalah ceremony with my friends on Ben Yehuda street. Crowds of at least 300 people come to enjoy some karlibach music and catch up with friends. We must have played for at least 2 hours. We ended half an hour before disaster happened.
I was with one of my friends that serve in the IDF. We were enjoying a meal at KFC when all of a sudden the windows shook and we felt an explosion that lasted for at least 3 seconds. The next thing I know my friend is off and crying and scared men, women and children surround me.
Ten minutes later I heard another explosion. We were locked in the lower dining room at KFC for at least 45 minutes wondering what had happened. I started to get phone calls from my friends reassuring me that all was ok with them.
This is what all of us in Israel live with every day. Do I hate Arabs? No, I don't hate. My war is not fought with hate. I fight my battles with G-ds help. I don't use weapons to win my war. I win my battles with persistence. I don't retreat when my fellow soldiers are brutally attacked. I live in Israel.
