The Teenage Zionist
By Toni
In the past three years
I have looked
at hundreds of suicide bombings.
Somehow, after seeing them,
I can snap back to the little teenager I'm supposed to be
with the blue and white ribbons wrapped around my ponytail
and cheer on my school's football team.
I can look my murdered peers in the eye
but can still find the capacity to smile.
I can see the most horrible of things
happening to the people I love
but I still have crushes on every cute guy I know.
maybe it's G-d's way of saying
that it's not time for me to grow up yet.
