Goodnight
We kiss goodnight
Under the Israel moon
Shining over the Mediterranean
Then you leave me
Standing at the door of my apartment.
I want to go inside
But I want to stay and watch you
Walk farther away from me
And disappear around the corner
Until you are nothing.
Such a naive Jewish love
Has blossomed in our land.
You and me
Together
Holding hands in such a young fashion
Walking around the city
And spending our afternoons
On the shore of the Mediterranean
Gazing into each other's eyes.
But the night comes
And you have to go
And leave me here in the darkness of the city
With a simple "goodnight"
And a kiss.
Friends Forever
It's been a year
Since you were taken from us
In the bombing
That changed both of our lives.
And I don't know if you remember me
But I'm your best friend
And I really miss you
Here on earth.
How is it wherever you are?
Do you have friends there, young people
Killed just like you were?
Do you still remember everyone from school?
Half of them can't even speak your name.
Your Mom and sister still can't believe
That you're gone and never coming back.
Fifteen is such a young and shameful age to die.
Life had just begun for you.
You
A laughing, loving person
That was always the prettiest and most popular,
The one that everyone was jealous of.
But nothing lasts forever,
And in a fiery, pathetic instant
Everything you had was gone,
And what was left
Was barely recognizable:
A stranger wrapped in a dark blue burial clothv
Ready to meet the earth once more,
That everyone was crying over.
Your Mom couldn't even stand on her own:
No one should ever have to bury their own baby
And as your father was reciting the Kaddish
I cried
For you
And the one
Who was responsible
For your death.
But friendship transcends everything,
Even death itself
And no matter what
You will always be beautiful
And we will be friends forever.
