The Minutes Before the Announcement

Sitting here and can't calm down
Like a crazy deja vu
God, they were so handsome and young
God, if only you had blessed them with life.
Soon enough they will announce,
Now it's still okay to hope
That the 6 of yesterday were enough
That the bloodshed ended for now
Soon enough the hopes will shatter,
When I hear it on the news
Now it's still okay to hope
To deny the obvious truth.
Each one has a story
Each one had a life.
Yesterday they were still anonymous
Today they're in every house.
Each one was a whole world-
A world that is now gone.
After their families get the knock of the door,
We will know too,
We will get to know them
Through the pictures on the news.
Soon enough we will find out
But now it's still okay to hope
And to deny what we're afraid of
The cruel, the painful truth.
