Bringing Peace

Hi, My name is Alex Kaplan and I am one of the interns from Children of Abraham (CoA).
Little did I know in the summer of 2004 what CoA would ever amount to. I first applied to CoA because out of several options of how to occupy my time during the summer, CoA stood out as a unique experience. At some point in the midst of taking photos and talking to young Muslims and Jews from around the world, it occurred to me that CoA was not just a summer internship. With the help of the media, news of CoA's accomplishments in bridging the gaps between Islam and Judaism has spread worldwide. For me CoA was and is still very special. In the past couple months I have organized an exhibit of CoA's photos here in Somerville, MA. Organizing the exhibit brought me closer to CoA because I got to personally see the results of my efforts to show others what young Jews and Muslims are accomplishing through the organization. My exhibit focused on demonstrating the parallels between the two nations. When people realize there are so many parallels that exist, they can begin to realize that Islam and Judaism are not so different from each other.
CoA is an opportunity for my generation to bring the world closer to peace.
