The CoA Experience

by Andrew Horowitz

I approached the Children of Abraham project not knowing what to expect. The photography part I understood, but the prospect of a dialogue with Muslim students was daunting. What would we discuss? Politics? Religion? Life in general? The answer turned out to be all of the above. I came to know many of the other interns, both Jewish and Muslim very well during those two months. I still talk with some of them on a regular basis. The discussions were tenuous and emotional at times, and light and silly at other times. At times it was painful, but it was worth it. I think we all grew a lot from the experience.
