This month we wish a mazal tov to
Alex Rachel Feder

"Meeting the girls from Lev Lalev the night of my bat-mitzvah was amazing. They were so friendly and nice. As soon as I walked in they grabbed me to dance. They showed me their rooms and their home. It didn't even matter that we never met before or didn't really speak the same language. I liked them right away. It was an incredible night and my family and I will never forget how beautiful it was. I feel like whenever I go to Israel again I will definitely visit my new friends."
More about how it all happened...
Alex helped raise money for a computer media center to soon be established at the Lev LaLev Children's Home by forgoing her Bat Mitzvah gifts, requesting on her invitations that guests make donations to Lev LaLev. instead...). There was a reception for Alex at the Children's Home for our girls and the Feder family (including extended family members who came from all over Israel and from the U.S.). Afterward, there was a dinner at a hall nearby graciously provided by the hall owner (Hagan Hayarok). All the food was also taken care of gratis for this event. Our girls put on a production that included acting, singing and dancing about the moral conflicts that Jewish teenagers are faced with as they learn more about their responsibilities in keeping the faith yet encounter so many outside influences that make it difficult to make good choices.
350 people attended, including the Deputy Mayor of Netanya and many family members of our girls from the Home. It was a most moving and inspiring event that many said they will never forget as long as they live.
Alex' mother heard about Lev LaLev through an email campaign that her father-in-law, Alex's grandfather, received and sent to her.
Alex has very special parents who took pains to make Alex' bat mitzvah meaningful. They wanted Alex to learn about how less fortunate girls live and for Alex to have a chance to give back.
