Global Shavuot Learnathon in Support of Mercaz Harav High School

Just over two months ago, on Rosh Chodesh Adar Bet, the Jewish world was shocked to the core after hearing of the horrific news from Jerusalem. Eight young boys had been struck down by a barbaric terrorist with their sefarim in their hands. Many of us sensed that it was all of Klal Yisrael that was attacked that night. Our enemies specifically chose to attack our two most precious possessions; our children and our Torah.

Our response must be to renew our commitment to what was attacked – through increasing our learning of Torah.

All of us, no matter what our hashkafa, dress, language or location – learn the same Torah, handed down by Moshe Rabeinu at Har Sinai all those years ago. The time has come that this Shavuot we again join together ‘k’ish echad b’lev echad’, like one man with one heart.

It is with this in mind that the OneFamily Fund announces the launch of the Global Shavuot Learnathon, where individuals, shuls and schools around the world are pledging to learn a number of hours of Torah on Leil Shavuot while seeking sponsorship from family and friends.

All funds raised from the Learnathon will be directed by the OneFamily Fund to assist the Mercaz HaRav High School (also known as Yashlats) in the rehabilitation of the school in the aftermath of the traumatic terrorist attack, provide ongoing counselling for its students, and make the school accessible for disabled terror victims.

We appeal to Schools, Shuls, Batei Midrash, Yeshivot and Seminaries worldwide to assist us by having a Shavuot Learnathon in their local communities or having their Tikun Leil Shavuot program dedicated to this purpose.

With blessings and hope from Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh,
